Nori, who lives in the mountains of Colorado with her husband Chuck, has loved
to draw and paint since childhood. She has a background in watercolors and pastels, but has
been painting in oils exclusively since 1997. Nori enjoys painting a great variety of subjects
including landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, and animals. For Gallery 822 her specialty has
become historic buildings found throughout Northern New Mexico.
“One of my favorite places to paint is Northern New Mexico. It is truly ‘The Land
of Enchantment.’ I love the unique and varied landscape, the architecture of the unique old
buildings and the villages that dot the countryside.
“When I see something that attracts me – whether it’s the mood of a certain scene, or the
interaction of colors and the angle of the light, I’m compelled to capture what I see and feel on
canvas. “I marvel at how the most ordinary scenes and objects can become extraordinarily
beautiful when the light and colors interact in different ways at different times of each day.
“It is my passion to recreate and convey to those who see my work the beauty of
those special moments.”
Nori’s art education includes classes at Cottonwood Art Academy and The Bemis
School of Art in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She has also taken a variety of workshops with
many well known artists including Sparky LeBold, Chuck Mardoz, Ray Vinella, Albert
Handell, Mary Dolph Wood, Joyce Pike, and Matt Smith.
